Frequently Asked Questions about PTA Membership

WHY JOIN PTA?
To show your support, advocate for your children, and vote at PTA meetings.
How do I join?
For new members:
  • Go to this link and click “Join with email”

  • Enter your name, email, and then create a password. Click “Sign up with Email”

  • For membership type, select “Parent/Guardian” or another appropriate option 

  • Check out with credit card. Membership is just $12 (+$1 convenience fee)

To renew your membership:

  • Log into Totem with your email and password

  • Renew your membership

Who can join PTA?
PTA is for everyone! Parents, guardians, students, teachers, grandparents, administrators, school board members, aunts, uncles, community members, etc. 
I already belong to another PTA, can I join more than one?
Yes! There is no limit to the number of PTAs you can support.
WHY DONATE?
To support PTA fundings that go directly towards school programs and student activities.
Where do PTA donations go?
Services include (but not limited to):
  • School-wide and grade-level enrichment programs

    • e.g. Imagineerz, Society of Young Inklings, etc.​

    • field trips

  • TK & Kindergarten PE and art -- only school in the district to fund TK & Kinder PE

  • Subscriptions for classroom software and online resources

    • Newsela, BrainPop, etc.​

  • Student planners

  • Noontime activities

  • Library books and supplies

  • Campus enhancements and equipment

  • Supplementary supplies funding for teachers and office

  • Project Cornerstone (social/emotional program from the YMCA)

  • Community-building events

    • Walkathon, Auction, EagleFest​

  • Staff appreciation lunches and refreshments

How do I donate?

  • Via Totem: When you become a member or renew your membership, you can add a donation

  • Via employer giving portal (e.g. Benevity): Search for “Amy Imai Elementary PTA”, Tax ID:77-0492242, and don’t forget to request a match!

  • Via check: payable to “Amy Imai Elementary PTA”

How much should I donate?
While our 2023-24 donation ask is $200 per student, any amount is appreciated!
When do you accept donations?
Donations are welcome throughout the school year and you can donate more than once.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes. You will receive a receipt from Totem or the giving portal which you donated.

Will my employer match my donation?
Many employers will generously match your donation. Please follow up with your employer's portal, such as Benevity or other nonprofit verification systems.
