AUCTION FAQ
What is the Auction?
The auction is Imai PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year. The name is a misnomer as its much more than an auction event. It's a parents' night out for Imai families, where we have a live auction, a silent auction, and a large number of hosted experiences available for purchase: everything from adults-only parent parties to special grade-level events for kids with their favorite teachers! These events not only raise money for Imai but also help us build a strong community. Whether your children are in their last year at Imai or brand new to our community, there is something for everyone at this event! All the proceeds raised at the auction will help the PTA fund classroom tools and enrichment programs for all our kids.
When and Where is the event?
The Auction will be held Oct. 18, 2024 at Levi’s Stadium! Doors open at 6:30PM and the bidding will begin at 7PM! The event will be indoors.
Who can attend the Auction?
Imai parents, alumni and staff are all invited to attend.

Are kids allowed to attend the Auction?
No, this is an adults only event.

Is there childcare available?
Unfortunately not. In the past years we have tried to set one up and the facility canceled last minute due to low attendance. That made it worse for families who were relying on it. To avoid that situation we decided to let families self-manage. Families often team up to leverage childcare setup.
Do I have to pay to attend the Auction?
The auction is FREE to attend! We may have a token $1 registration fee to ensure smooth setup for the event. All funds raised support Imai PTA, so please feel free to help us by contributing to the costs of the event by donating towards your food and beverage costs at registration.

Do I need to pre-register for the event?
Yes. Pre-registration is mandatory. Registration for the auction is now OPEN! Register today. The event is free, but you will need to vault your credit card at registration to assist with check-out for any items you may purchase or win.

What items can I bid on?
We're all about the PARTY! There are parties you can buy to participate in and there are items that are auctioned off. Fun experiences for adults and kids alike. Don't miss out on the annual Imai Family Campout, the chance for your kid to be "Principal for a Day," reserved seating at your kid's concerts/plays and other performances, special grade-level parties featuring your kids favorite Imai teachers and staff, and the Imai Family Movie Night. There are also fun adults-only activities, including Tacos and Tequila Tasting, the Scavenger Party for Grownups, an Evening in Paris, Dads Poker Night, and so much more! A link to the full catalog of events will be available beginning of Oct at imaipta.org/auction.

If I can't attend in person, can I still bid on items?
Yes! You’ll be able to pre-register for the auction online, get your bidding number, checkout the auction catalog and decide what items you’d like to bid on. You can have a friend submit your bid for you (by proxy) on any items you want to purchase. At 8pm the night of the auction, remaining available spots for certain events will be released to purchase online as well.

I’m driving to the Auction… Where do I park?
Parking is available in Green Lot 1 located off of Tasman Blvd and directly across the southwest entrance to Levi's Stadium. Once you park in Green Lot 1, cross the pedestrian bridge to Gate C. Follow the signs for the Imai Auction to locate the party!
What’s the dress code?
Festive Attire: dress for a fun, date night out! No need to bring out your ball gown, but feel free to get a little dressed up. However, jeans are perfectly appropriate. The event will be both indoors and outdoors, so you may want to bring a sweater or light jacket!
Can I arrive at any time?
Yes, you can. However some of our items for bid, such as parties, will have limited slots and are signed up on a first come, first serve basis. Hence, it is best to arrive as close to the start time as possible. Arrival time is scheduled for 6:30PM and bidding on silent auction items begins at 7PM.

Do I have to wait for the Auction to end to checkout?
No! We will process all items after the auction closes and you will receive a receipt via email after the event. No need to wait in line when the event ends.
Is this a Live Auction, or a Silent Auction… and what’s the difference?
The auction is primarily a silent auction but does have some live auction items. For the silent auction, there will be a sign-up sheet for parties where there's a fixed price or a bid sheet for other items. You can walk around the party, and sign up for various items that interest you to buy. A party sign-up sheet has a specific number of slots (i.e. 20 slots for 20 attendees) and a designated price. If you add your name to the sign up sheet, then you will have “won” that item. In some cases, i.e. for a restaurant gift certificate, the bid sheet will specify that item will go to the highest bidder. We’ll announce the closing of the silent auction at 8PM. At this time, whoever has the highest bid will win the item.
During the live auction we will have some items for bid, such as Principal for a Day, Reserved Imai Parking for a Year, and the 49ers VIP Experience for 4. The live auction will be hosted by an emcee, who will invite attendees to raise their bidding paddle if they would like to bid on an item at a specified dollar amount. Other attendees can outbid the current bid at a higher dollar amount. Once there are no more bids, the attendee with the highest bid wins. The live auction is a lot of fun to watch even if you don’t intend to bid!

Am I obligated to make a purchase or make a bid?
No, there is no minimum (or maximum) spend required. You can come just to mingle with other Imai parents and enjoy the venue. It is fundraiser and we want you to come participate.
How will you handle unforeseen event cancellations?
Many of our auction events are in-person experiences. If anything (e.g. inclement weather) disrupts any of the planned in-person events, our hosts will reschedule if practical to do so. However, because the PTA relies on auction proceeds in making budgeting decisions, we are unable to offer refunds for unforeseen cancellations or rescheduled events for guests or hosts.

HOW CAN I HELP?
The Imai auction relies on donations of items and events from our parent community.
-
Can you host/co-host a party of kids or adults (i.e. a movie night, a paint night, a themed dinner party, a cornhole tournament, karaoke night, 80's prom, a progressive cocktail party with your Imai neighbors?
-
Can you donate a weekend or week at your vacation home in Hawaii, Tahoe, etc.?
-
Do you have a connection to a small business (restaurant, yoga studio, spa, etc.) who can donate a gift certificate or experience?
-
Do you have a special talent you can share via a class or a performance?
-
Do you have season tickets to the Warriors, 49ers, Giants, and can donate a pair of tickets?
The most important way you can support the auction is to join us at the event! While you’re at it, bring along another Imai parent or two who might need some encouragement to attend!
