FAQs
How Are Laps Tracked?
-
When the students arrive, they must go to the registration/check out desk to receive their own lap card on a lanyard. The lap card will have their name on it.
-
Every time a lap is completed on the course, an adult volunteer will mark it on the card.
-
Lap cards must stay in good condition so take care of them and wear them at all times.
-
Laps will only be marked if your child:
-
stays on the track,
-
completes a full lap within the track borders and
-
follows the direction of the course
-
-
Important: You must turn in your lap card to the checkout table before you leave for the day so your laps can be counted towards individual and classroom prizes.

Is This A Drop-Off Event?
A parent or legal guardian must be present and on campus during the walkathon; this is NOT a drop-off event. Children cannot attend on their own, nor can an older sibling watch your child.

Where Do Parents Sit?
Designated areas will be available for parents to set up a “home base”- bring lawn chairs, blankets, or a shade tent or umbrella for kids to take breaks, rehydrate and fuel up.

Can You Bring Food/Drink?
-
Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase - CASH ONLY - small cash bills preferred. We will also have food trucks (cash or credit card) during the main part of the day.
-
Since we may not be able to accurately estimate the number of participants (and could sell out), you are welcome to bring your own snacks, lunch or drinks.
-
Do not eat on the field; use the upper grade picnic tables or blacktop area away from crowds, for eating or your home base area.

Do You Have To Pre-register? Can You Register At The Event?
We strongly encourage all walkers to complete Early Bird Registration before MONDAY FEB 22. Early Bird Registration is the only way to guarantee a walkathon t-shirt.

If you register onsite at event, you will NOT receive a walkathon t-shirt & cost increases to $20.

Can Other Family Members or Friends Attend/Walk? Do They Need To Register?
Parents or legal guardians can walk with their child and do not need to register. Any siblings who plan to walk must complete registration. For safety and crowd management, we kindly ask that only immediate family members attend.

Can You Run?
While we appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm, we will ask walkers to walk only (fast or slow) to keep things as safe as possible for everyone on the course.

Are There Prizes/Incentives?
Each registered child walker will be guaranteed a t-shirt (Early Bird Reg only), lap card and lanyard. The lap card will be marked by lap volunteers for each lap completed. After a certain number of laps are walked, the walker can get lap card punched in exchange for a small prize, raffle ticket, treat, etc.

Can You Come/Leave At Anytime?
You can come anytime after your designated registration time (9:30 AM for TK/K/1st and 10:30 AM for 2nd-5th) and can leave at anytime. The event ends at 1:30 PM.

Do You Have To Donate To Participate?
While it is not required, we appreciate donations via the form of "pledges" which you can ask family, friends or neighbors to contribute. Once you register online, a personalized fundraiser page will be emailed to you.

What Is Paybee?
Paybee is our online Event Registration and donation platform. Each student/sibling participating must be registered.

Other Important Safety Guidelines:
-
Walkers must walk unless mobility issues apply - i.e. no scooters, bikes etc. to keep the course in good condition.
-
We will have self-serve first aid supplies in case special care is needed.
-
Please bring a hat, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, extra socks and layers of clothing for our wonderful, unpredictable spring weather.
-
Make sure you encourage your children to take breaks during the day to prevent dehydration and fatigue. While we do have incentives for laps walked, it is not a competition, nor a race. Please have your child only do what’s best for them.
-
No Pets. Humans only for this event please! :)
-
Traffic on the field is ONE WAY. Only enter and exit the field at the designated areas.
