FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Auction?

The auction is Imai PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year. After a two-year COVID hiatus, we are back and excited to introduce all of our new Imai families to this wonderful tradition.  We’ll be auctioning off a ton of great events and experiences: everything from adults-only parent parties to special grade-level events for kids with their favorite teachers!  These events not only raise money for Imai but also help us build a strong community.  Whether your children are in their last year at Imai or brand new to our community, there is something for everyone at this event! All the proceeds raised at the auction will help the PTA fund classroom tools and enrichment programs for all our kids.

When and Where is the event?

The Auction will be held October 1st at Levi’s stadium! Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. and the bidding will begin at 6:30! The event will be mainly outdoors to allow for covid-safety in a larger group setting. If you prefer to wear a mask while indoors, please make sure to bring one!

Who can attend the auction?

Imai Parents, Alumni and Staff are all invited to attend.

Are kids allowed to attend the auction?

No, this is an adults only event.

Is there childcare available?

Yes! Imai students and their siblings 4 years and older (and potty trained) may participate. Care is available at the Imai YMCA, right on campus next to the Kinder classrooms, from 5:30-10:30 PM for a cost of $30 per child. To register, please email the Imai YMCA site director, Diego Zamora, at Diego.Zamora@ymcasv.org.

Do I Have to Pay to Attend the Auction?

The auction is FREE to attend!  All funds raised support Imai PTA, so please feel free to help us by contributing to the costs of the event by donating towards your food and beverage costs at registration.

What Items Can I Bid On?

We're all about the PARTY! We'll be auctioning off  fun experiences for adults and kids alike. Don't miss out on the annual Imai Family Campout, the chance for your kid to be "Principal for a Day," reserved seating at your kid's concerts/plays and other performances, special grade-level parties featuring your kids favorite Imai teachers and staff, and the Imai Family Movie Night.  There are also fun adults-only activities, including Tacos and Tequila Tasting, the Scavenger Party for Grownups, an Evening in Paris, Dads Poker Night, and so much more! A link to the full auction catalog will be available the week of event at imaipta.org/auction.

Do I need to pre-register for the event?

Registration for the auction is now OPEN! Register today to avoid the line at imaipta.org/auction. The event is free, but you will need to vault your credit card at registration to assist with check-out for any auction items you may purchase.  Register in advance to get your bidding number and skip the line when you arrive! If you don’t pre-register, you can still attend. You will need to provide your credit-card and sign up details when you arrive.

If I Can’t Attend in Person, Can I Still Bid on Items?

Yes! You’ll be able to pre-register for the auction online, get your bidding number, checkout the auction catalog and decide what items you’d like to bid on. You can have a friend submit your bid number for any items you want to purchase.

I’m Driving to the Auction… Where Do I Park?
Parking at the stadium is very limited so please consider taking a ride-share or carpooling.  Limited parking is available immediately in front of the restaurant on Marie P DeBartolo Way and additional parking is available  alongside the stadium on Tasman drive.  Additional parking is available in the parking structure on Tasman Dr. across the street north of Levi's stadium. If you're coming from the west on Tasman Drive, do a U-turn at Centennial/Marie DeBartolo Way, and then turn right into the garage. See our map for details.

What’s the Dress Code?
Festive Attire: dress for a fun, date night out! No need to bring out your ball gown, but feel free to get a little dressed up. However, jeans are perfectly appropriate if you’d rather be comfortable for your mad-dash around the silent auction bid sheets. The event will be mainly outdoors, so you may want to bring a sweater or light jacket!

Can I arrive at any time?
Yes, you can.  However some of our items for bid, such as parties, will have limited slots and are signed up on a first come, first serve basis. Hence, it is best to arrive as close to the start time as possible.  Arrival time is scheduled for 6:00 PM and bidding on silent auction items begins at 6:30 PM.

Do I Have to Wait for the Auction to End to Checkout?
No! We will process all items after the auction closes and you will receive a receipt via email after the event.  No need to wait in line when the auction ends.

Is This a Live Auction, or a Silent Auction… and What’s the Difference?
The auction is primarily a silent auction but does have some live auction items.  For the silent auction, there will be a sign-up sheet for parties or a bid sheet for other items.  You can walk around the party, and sign up for various items that interest you.  A party sign-up sheet has a specific number of slots (i.e. 20 slots for 20 attendees) and a designated price. If you add your name to the sign up sheet, then you will have “won” that item. In some cases, i.e. for a restaurant gift certificate, the bid sheet will specify that item will go to the highest bidder. We’ll announce the closing of the silent auction at 7:30 PM.  At this time, whoever has the highest bid will win the item.  During the live auction we will have some items for bid during our live auction such as Principal for a Day, Reserved Imai Parking for a Year, and the 49ers VIP Experience for 4.  The live auction will be hosted by an emcee, who will invite attendees to raise their bidding paddle if they would like to bid on an item at a specified dollar amount. Other attendees can outbid the current bid at a higher dollar amount. Once there are no more bids, the attendee with the highest bid wins the item. The live auction is a lot of fun to watch even if you don’t intend to bid!

Am I obligated to make a purchase or make a bid?
No, there is no minimum (or maximum) spend required.  You can come just to mingle with other Imai parents and enjoy the venue.

How Will You Handle Unforeseen Event Cancellations?
Many of our auction events are in-person experiences. If COVID disrupts any of the planned in-person events, our hosts will reschedule if practical to do so. However, because the PTA relies on auction proceeds in making budgeting decisions, we are unable to offer refunds for unforeseen cancellations for guests or hosts.

How Can I Help?
The Imai auction is a great community event made possible through generous donations of parents, teachers, staff, and local businesses. The most important way you can support the auction is to join us at the event! While you’re at it, bring along another Imai parent or two who might need some encouragement to attend! We can still use day-of volunteers. If you’d like to help or have questions, please email us at auction@imaipta.org. We’d love to have your support!
